About Margaret Pitcher
Hello and welcome.
A little look at my world:
I studied Cultural Anthropology in college and loved being immersed in the antiquities, legends, and myths. I learned to look critically at the big picture of different places and societies but also to slow down and look closer.
I love everything there is about photography: composing, shooting, processing. Being absorbed by the image. What is also wonderful is that I see the connection between what I do now and what I was trained to do as an Anthropologist: I am preserving moments in time, people, places, ways of life, ways of looking at life--sharing the story of a place.
As for techniques and style: I absolutely love to take long exposure night photography. Sometimes I'm out of bed at 4am to catch those magic moments of first light. I also greatly enjoy using a fisheye lens to give an unexpected look to familiar scenes. And I have such an excitement for macro photography--getting a glimpse into the petite world of giants.
I have sold my work locally and just recently decided to come into the global marketplace. I would be honored to have one of my works hanging on your wall. Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know a little about me and for browsing my work!
